My therapeutic approach to health and well-being is very much informed by my twenty plus years experience as a BodyWorker, Intuitive Energy Healer and Embodied, Trauma Informed, Yoga Teacher, supporting individuals, families and groups who have experienced high levels of stress, depression, anxiety and trauma. Be extra kind to yourself. You have been dealing with the emotional impact of these past several months. It is normal to have lots of different feelings, from worry to waves of panic and feelings of anxiety. Negative emotions can linger and re-emerge for us all. Our brain wants predictable activity and close contact so we can relax our vigilant nervous system. Social and physical distancing has interrupted this predictable activity and close contact. As a result, we are experiencing emotional numbness and vulnerability. Practices and body-based approaches that manage stress reactions in the moment are crucial for us right now. A body-based approach, through embodied, trauma informed yoga and attuned touch, is important for our mental health and well-being. It is essential that we foster counter emotions and create a safe space within ourselves. Reflexology

 

A Reflexology session can bring relief to a wide range of acute and chronic conditions. I have trained in the Eunice Ingham method of Reflexology /Zone Theory in 2001. This training involves the use the finger/thumb technique. With this technique and by applying precise pressure to part of the foot, in turn creates a response in the corresponding body part. The result is homeostasis. It's both a science and an art that is used holistically to counteract stress and it's many effects. Reflexology is recognised as a way of relaxing both the body and mind and is recommended by health care professionals. The origins of this healing art date back to ancient Egypt and China.  

Thai Foot & Leg Massage

 

Works on similar principles as Reflexology but offers more massage elements. Deep tissue massage, with calf compression and circular thumb rotations along the Zen lines frees up congestion allowing Chi to flow freely. Heavy legs turn to light legs! Also improves ankle mobility and flexibility which is essential in maintaining foot stability and balance. Acupressure points are stimulated with a wooden Thai stick bringing in the benefits of Reflexology but with a deeper pressure. A perfect combination for people who experience heaviness and restlessness in the lower legs.

Thai Yoga BodyWork

 

Takes you through a full range of assisted Hatha Yoga movements. This increases joint mobilisation, improving flexibility and eases tense, painful muscles. The technique involves deep tissue compression and rhythmic palming. Rhythmic palming helps calm the mind and promotes a feeling of both safety and relaxation, while the deep tissue compression increases blood circulation. Therapeutic stretching opens the body’s energy lines releasing blocked chi. Stimulation of acupressure points on the soles of the feet, face, shoulders and scalp balances the whole body energetically.

Warm Bamboo Massage

 

Known for it's heat and healing properties. The warmth of the bamboo is a big factor in the effectiveness of this massage. The heat allows deeper tissue penetration, and the bamboos are skillfully used in a roller-like fashion, stretching and elongating the muscles. Perfect for shortened muscles due to postural imbalances, tight IT bands and  repetitive strain injuries. Muscles are relaxed and allowed to return to their ideal position, pressure points are relieved, and joints have more range of motion, flexibility, and physical freedom.  A truly muscle melting massage.

Hot Stone Massage

 

Re-educates your muscles from constantly tightening, shortening, constricting and settling into old patterns of holding that creates pain and discomfort along with muscle imbalance. The fascia benefits from this heat therapy as adhesions and restrictions from everyday living inhibits our bodies from moving freely. A hot stone massage helps smooth out and unstick these fascial layers, enabling us to have more mobility and ease of movement in muscles, nerves and organs. From an energetic perspective, these stones have grounding, balancing and emotionally calming qualities.

Oriental Head Massage

 

Originally used to improve scalp and hair condition Oriental Head Massage also focuses on head, neck & shoulders. Myo Fascia Release is combined with deep tissue massage, using a variety of pressures to calm and stimulate. Techniques include circular massage strokes on your scalp, improving circulation and promtoing mental clarity. Deep tissue and acupressure massage on your shoulders eases physcial discomfort and fascia release increases range of movement in the neck. Reduces tension headaches, migraine, eye strain, sinus, mental stress and anxiety. Includes healing of the Energy Epicentre.

Deep Tissue Massage

 

Specified for chronic aches/pains and commonly contracted areas such as neck stiffness, sore shoulders, stiff upper and lower back pain, and including tight leg muscles. The massage techniques are slower and the pressure is deeper in order to reach the sub-layer of muscles and fascia. Muscles must be relaxed in order to reach the deeper muscles often using forearms and elbows. It is important to be realistic about what one Deep Tissue Massage can achieve. So it is possible to alternate Aromatherapy Massage with a Deep Tissue Massage treatment for maximum benefit.

Classic Swedish Body Massage

 

A combination of many different techniques rolled into one session. Five primary massage techniques form the foundation of this type of massage with petrissage taking up the majority of the time. It's these primary techniques that are firm and focused using precision and pressure. Can also be used as a therapeutic modality for people who suffer from any type of debilitating joint disorder that causes pain, by increasing the elasticity in the tissues and flushing out all the metabolic waste from the muscles helping you heal faster.

Intuitive Energy Healing

 

Create feelings of peace, relaxation, and well-being during times of pain and strife. This ancient wellness practice, uses soothing vibrations, to release emotional blockages and relax the body. This proven and time honored technique is a natural way to strengthen your immune system, lower stress levels, and relieve physical and emotional pain. Energy can stagnate in the body where there has been physical injury or possibly emotional pain. Energy Healing aims to help the flow of this stagnate energy and remove blocks in a similar way to acupuncture or acupressure.
