World Reflexology Week 2021

I love feet. I love Reflexology. I love meeting new soles!

As a Reflexologist with over 20 years experience, your feet are in expert, safe hands. Reflexology is a therapy that is suitable from "the cradle to the grave". My youngest client to date was just days old and my oldest over 80 years of age.

Reflexology is both a science and an art, and so takes great skill and focus to carry out a treatment. Reflexology is a form of acupressure, and a finger and thumb technique, specific to Reflexology is used to 'walk' along the pressure points treating over 7000 nerve endings. Yes, over 7000 nerve endings!

The first time I had a professional treatment was with a podiatrist. It wasn't what I expected but that's only because I was used to my husband rubbing my feet. I firmly believe all the 'free foot rubs' I got prevented back ache during my pregnancies and post labour.

Reflexology can provide relief from acute and chronic back pain. Using Reflexology loosens your spine, improving circulation and blood flow to sensitive nerves of the back. Special attention needs to be paid to the lower back, which is where most people hold their tension.

Back pain is often more than just a physical problem tho, and this is where you begin to make the link between the distress/stress you are experiencing and the pain you are experiencing. Back pain can be a manifestation of anxiety and pressure. Emotional distress often presents itself in the body as chronic back pain.

Your spine is important in maintaining and achieving overall wellbeing and the good news is that Reflexology can help. The spinal column is one of the most important parts of the body. It makes many different functions possible, including movement and balance. The spinal column also allows for upright posture, protection of the spinal cord and shock absorption

Your spinal reflex is located on the instep of each foot, from the top of the big toe to the base of the heel. This area corresponds to the spines 33 vertebrae - 7 cervicals, 12 thoracic, 5 lumbar, 5 sacrum and 4 coccyx.

The spinal column and vertebrae are made of different elements, all of which protect the spinal cord while comunicating with the brain. These elements also provide sensations through the body via a complex interaction of the bones, ligament and muscle structures of the back and the nerves that surround it.

Nerve roots are used to transmit information between the spinal cord and the other parts of the body, such as arms legs and organs which makes working on the feet so effective.
