Orienting for Safety

The smell of this homemade apple chutney reminds me of home

The smell is amazing and reassuring

When we 'orient' our environment, we are looking for both - reassurance and safety

That is part of our 'checking in' process in Troon Yoga

Orienting our environment

Observing our dominant style of sensing

I've always been Clair sentiment, where I can easily tune into another's energy field

And

I can 'feel' my sons energetic handprints no matter where he goes, or what he touches!

He subliminally prompted me to action last week (McD's)!

Orienting for safety is HUGE for me having been a serving member of our security forces in Northern Ireland

That quick darting of eyelids, hurried speech, surveying of potential threats via irregular/odd behaviour, securing an exit point, and of course bracing

Bracing, Bracing, Bracing

I've spent years of my life bracing and preparing for the worst

For that I could weep

Fear is lonely and dreadful

Isolating

Orienting my environment helps me through familiar safe sounds, sights, and smells

I hope you recognise what helps you.
