Feel Fabulous February

No other month promotes love quite like February.

Our, 'Feel Fabulous February', embodied yoga class crafts the internal, safe space to observe sensations and emotions within ourselves and within our heart chakra.

Listening to our body's messages give us vital clues about how our emotions are affecting us.

An aspect of my personal journey lately has been working on building a different mental/emotional inner landscape.

I had a 'light bulb' moment around October time.

Even though I'm head high in weeds, I can see some wild flowers growing.

Our longer check in at the start of class, in reclined butterfly allows us to fall back, into our internal self.

To observe, without judgement, our emotional and mental state, nuturing the space while allowing feelings to show up.

With curiousity, we rewrite our internal landscape.

Love yourself head to toe - practice yoga

Easy Seated Pose

Come to stillness with a pose that supports a tall back. Use a prop to support the forward tilt of the pelvis. Check that your pelvis, chest and head are in alignment. Close your eyes or lower your gaze. Exhale with a sigh. Once your body has settled, start to become aware of your natural breath. Feel the ebb and flow of the breath through the whole of your body. Sense the wave like vibration that the breath creates. Listen for the sound, 'So' on the inhale and 'ham' on the exhale.

Self realisation mantra So'ham - translates as, 'I am.' Our embodied quality this month is Love. Your mantra becomes 'I am love'. Allow the mantra to draw you deeper into stillness. To finish return your awareness to your breath, your physical presence and the space around you.

Reclined Butterfly

From a supine position feel your spine lengthen on the floor - observe sensations here for eight breaths. Bend the legs up, turn the soles of the feet together allowing the knees to fall to the sides. Soften the spine and the muscles that support it. Relax your shoulders and soften your face. Place one hand on your lower abdomen and the other on your heart centre. Allow your eyes to fall back deep into your eye sockets. With curiousity observe without judgement, your physical body, your mental state and your emotional state. Taking your awareness to your hand on your heart space, allow your feelings to show up. Breathe softly and affirm, 'I am love'.

Eye of the Needle

Eye of the Needle pose can help integrate both the rational and emotional parts of the brain enabling us to integrate emotion and reason. It helps create balance, peace and well-being even off the mat!

Sphinx

When we think of Sphinx as a gentle heart opener, the pose itself becomes much softer. Stimulating the fourth chakra at the heart space can help increase self confidence and inspire a more positive outlook on life.

Melting Heart

Moving slowly into melting heart can release some our blocked emotions, by adjusting our upper body structure. A rounded posture can be indicative of when we can feel the burdened by worries of the heart. Alternate extending arms to prevent shoulder strain.

Childs Pose

Begin to slow down and draw your focus inward to calm your mind and nervous system. Resting your forehead (the spot between our eyebrows) on the floor or a block sends a message to your brain that you are safe and that it's okay to relax.

Savasana

Spend time here allowing the spine to soften and relax. Observe the free flow of the breath, listening for the sound, 'So' on your inhale and 'Ham' on your exhale. So-Ham translates as, 'I am'. Use the self realisation mantra, So'Ham, or add the embodied quality 'Love' - I Am Love. Alternatively you can follow the wave like sensation of the breath, allowing the motion to draw you deeper into stillness.
